How the calculator works

The minimum is set by article 62 of the Immigration Regulation (Real Decreto 1155/2024): 400% of IPREM a month for the applicant and another 100% of IPREM for each family member coming with them. The monthly amount is multiplied by the term of the permit you ask for. IPREM is taken on the day you apply for the visa or the renewal[1].

IPREM for 2026: €600 a month, €7,200 a year. The figure was set by the 2023 budget law[2]. No new budget has been passed since, the extended one applies, and Seguridad Social gives the same €600 for 2026[3]. So the applicant needs €2,400 a month and each family member €600.

Who is comingA monthFirst year, 12 monthsRenewal, 24 months
Applicant alone€2,400€28,800€57,600
Applicant and 1 family member€3,000€36,000€72,000
Applicant and 2 family members€3,600€43,200€86,400
Applicant and 3 family members€4,200€50,400€100,800

Term. The first permit is granted for one year and a renewed permit for two years, unless you qualify for long-term residence[1]. That is why a renewal is calculated over 24 months. You apply for the renewal in the last two months before the permit expires[1].

Who counts as a family member: a spouse or registered partner, a stable partner, minor children and adult children with a disability who need support (article 61.3)[1]. Parents are not on the list. More: no lucrativa with your family.

Income or savings. Article 62 allows two routes: funds for the whole term of the permit, or a regular source of income[1]. The calculator checks each route separately: savings against the amount for the term, income against the monthly amount. If neither is enough alone but both together are, it warns you: the Regulation does not say how the two can be combined.

  • It does not reflect the requirements of a particular consulate: check its page for the document list and the format of bank letters.
  • It does not convert currencies: if your money is in another currency, convert at the rate on the day you apply.
  • It does not check where the money comes from or whether you can access it. How to prove this: how much money you need for no lucrativa.
  • It does not include insurance, fees, translations or housing.

Frequently asked questions

How much money does one person need for no lucrativa in 2026?
At least €2,400 a month, which is €28,800 for the first year. That is 400% of IPREM with IPREM at €600 a month[1] [3].
How much is added for a spouse and children?
€600 a month for each family member, which is 100% of IPREM: €7,200 for the first year and €14,400 for a two-year renewal[1] [3].
How much do I need for a no lucrativa renewal?
The same monthly amount times 24 months, because the renewed permit lasts two years. For one applicant that is €57,600[1]. How the renewal works: renewing no lucrativa.
Can I show a pension instead of savings?
Yes, the Regulation accepts a regular source of income instead of funds for the whole term[1]. For one applicant the pension must be at least €2,400 a month. Pension, rent and dividends qualify, salary and fees do not: no lucrativa on a pension or passive income.
Why is the amount based on IPREM and not on the minimum wage?
Article 62 of the Regulation says so[1]. The digital nomad visa thresholds are based on the SMI, so they are higher, and they test something else: earnings from remote work.
Will the amount change if IPREM goes up?
Yes. The amount follows the IPREM on the day you apply[1]. If a new budget with a different IPREM is passed before you apply, recalculate with the new figure.
