Digital nomad visa fees for the whole family

The calculator adds up the government fees for a DNV for you and your family: the UGE authorization, the TIE card and the consular fee if you come on a visa. It covers first applications and renewals.

How the calculator works

The calculator adds up the government fees for every applicant: you and each family member who is getting an authorization. There is always one more applicant than family members.

FeeAmount as of 01.10.2026Who paysBasis
First UGE authorization, form 790-038€73.26every applicant, family members included[1][2]
UGE authorization renewal, 790-038shown in the form, not publishedevery applicant[7]
TIE card, first issue, 790-012€16.08anyone with an authorization over 6 months[4][8]
TIE card on renewal, 790-012€19.30anyone whose authorization is renewed[4][8]
Consulate visaconsulate's rate, in local currencyeveryone who gets a visa[5]

The formula is simple: UGE fees = applicants × €73.26, TIE cards = applicants × €16.08 (× €19.30 on renewal). The euro total adds up only these two lines. The base amounts were set by Orden ESS/1571/2014 and are indexed every year under the budget law[3].

Why there is no TIE on a visa. The telework visa lasts up to a year and itself allows you to live in Spain without a card (article 75.4 Ley 14/2013)[6]. A card is needed once UGE grants an authorization for more than six months (article 76.2)[6]. So on the consulate route the calculator counts the TIE only at the authorization stage. The general rule in the Regulation mentions a card for visas over six months as well (article 209 RD 1155/2024)[9], but the DNV has its own article 75.4.

The calculator does not convert the consular fee into euros: the consulate charges it in local currency and revises it with the exchange rate[5]. Check the amount on your consulate's website.

The ministry does not publish the renewal fee in its public materials. The e-office says that on renewal the code 038 fee is paid by the main applicant and by family members, and the amount appears in the form after choosing «renovada»[7].

The fee falls due when the application is filed (additional provision 19 Ley 14/2013)[6], so a refusal on its own is no reason for a refund.

  • Translations, apostilles, insurance and representatives' fees are not included.
  • Indexation of amounts in a new year is not included.
  • It assumes all family members get an authorization for the same period as you.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a family of three pay in fees?
For a first application from Spain, three times €73.26 for UGE authorizations and three times €16.08 for TIE cards, €268.02 in total as of 01.10.2026[1] [8]. The consular fee, translations and apostilles are not included.
Do I pay the fee for my child and spouse?
Yes. The first 790-038 fee is paid by every applicant, including family members who are getting an authorization[1] [2]. Each person also gets and pays for a TIE card.
Why doesn't the calculator show the renewal amount?
The ministry does not publish it: it appears in form 790-038 once you choose the renewal option[7]. Only the TIE card on renewal has a known price: €19.30[4].
Do I need a TIE if I came on a consulate visa?
Not while the visa is valid: it allows you to live in Spain without a card (article 75.4 Ley 14/2013)[6]. You apply for the card after UGE grants an authorization for more than six months (article 76.2)[6].
How much is the consular visa fee?
It is charged in local currency at the consulate's rate and changes with the exchange rate[5]. Check the exact figure on the website of the consulate where you apply.
How much will the card cost when I move to long-term residence?
Under Orden PJC/617/2025 the long-term residence card costs €21.87[4]. This calculator does not count the fee for the long-term authorization itself.
